The Gideons International In Canada is seeking a Regional Manager with proven experience in managing people and delivering results. This individual is a key member of the Programs department within the Gideon organization and must have a passion to see God’s Word distributed in Canada and worldwide.

The Regional Manager (RM) is responsible to provide leadership to the operational aspects of the ministry within their region, with the goal of and accountability for achieving the annual goals and objectives with the support of the Area Leadership Team. The RM works to develop and support the implementation and achievement of strategic and operational plans, goals and priorities for the Districts and Chapters within their Region. 

The RM’s main objectives are to grow and strengthen the Gideon ministry, its membership and impact with local communities, churches, and partners, working alongside the Area Leadership Team to collaboratively facilitate the engagement of members in carrying out the ministry by providing coaching, technical assistance and personal involvement to members within the Area.

Key Responsibilities 

• Implement, initiate and execute Operational and Strategic Plans for the achievement of Annual Ministry Targets.

• Build a collaborative working relationship with the Area Leadership Team, working together to monitor ministry progress and to jointly support the Area focus and priorities, with the accountability of ensuring at annual goals and objectives are achieved.

• Support the members in their region and engage them with resources to achieve annual targets in four key areas of ministry: member recruitment, fundraising, church relations and Scripture Distribution.

• Lead in the development of the member training events and initiatives, ensuring the agenda and content reflects the direction of the national objectives of the ministry.

• Resource and train members in the recruitment of new members, while remaining actively engaged in personally recruiting of members. Host recruitment events and generate recruitment initiatives alongside members in the regional area.

• Provide mentorship to leaders within the region, cultivating potential leaders for service within Chapter, Area and National leadership roles

• Fundraising: assist and resource members in organizing fundraising events to meet annual fundraising targets for the region. Speak at events as requested/required.

• Church Relations: develop partnerships with local churches and pastors. Speak in churches on behalf of the Gideon ministry

• Scripture Distribution: provide training on and promote domestic and international Scripture distribution programs to members.

Financial Controller

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Financial Controller with a passion to see God’s Word distributed in Canada and worldwide.

Directly reporting to the Vice President of Business & Finance and working on and with the Business Team, the Financial Controller will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the finances & accounting functions and will provide accurate and timely information for the organization, including analysis, budgeting, and financial reports. The Controller also maintains the company's accounting systems and implements changes as required, including recommending enhancements of operational and financial efficiencies.

Job Requirements

The Financial Controller is responsible for:

  1. Managing the accounting operations including the creation and review of journal entries, payroll, inventory, capital assets, and online & offline reconciliations.
  2. Providing advice and guidance on all accounting matters including financial systems, record keeping, and new business endeavours as they relate to finances and accounting.
  3. Research and advise on International accounting functions alongside the VP.  Work with the VP to build accounting and financial administration structures in the global areas we are building ministry in.
  4. Managing the payroll function, including setting up of new hires, tracking days off and maintaining the data.
  5. Employee benefits and pension plan administration.
  6. Prepare, analyze and send monthly results for each department, and financial reports for our membership as required. 
  7. Bank reconciliations and preparation of cash flow reports and analysis as needed.  International wire transfers and managing foreign exchange transactions.
  8. Work with the Business Team to measure, analyze, and improve current processes which impact customer quality and influence internal operating efficiency.

 

9. Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal regulatory and company policies.

10. Work with the VP to formulate budgets and input same into the accounting software, analyzing & implementing the spread of the budget throughout the fiscal year by month.

11. Work with external auditors on the annual audit.

12. Financial reporting to various companies and agencies (CCCC, Insurance, StatsCan, CRA)

13. Generation of reports of performance against budgets, including analysis and forecasting.

14. Supporting new systems or project selections and implementation from a strategic finance and internal control perspective.

15. With input from the VP, responsible for the formulation of accounting policies, procedures and controls.

16. Other related duties as required, including cross-training on donation revenue administration.

Skills Required

The ideal candidate would possess the following skills:

  • Strong financial and accounting skills, knowledge of accounting procedures and protocols.  A designation in accounting would be ideal.
  • Database software experience including customer relationship management (CRM) and accounting databases.  The Blackbaud suite of products is our main software system
  • Thorough knowledge of all relevant Federal, Provincial and local requirements regarding financial records, payroll, pension, and the like
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and also good attention to detail
  • Good problem solving skills and the ability to make the necessary decisions to move forward the work at hand
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines

Key Responsibilities 

  • Effectively coach, mentor, support and develop global Regional Managers, by providing ongoing constructive feedback, one-on-one updates, training, effective delegation, and operational planning
  1. Lead regular and ad hoc staff meetings, devotions and key processes like budgeting and planning.
  2. Provide opportunities for staff feedback to encourage employee engagement, including implementing timely plans to respond to identified needs.
  3. Ensure effective stewardship and accountability of department resources, finances and people, consistent with annual operating plans, budgets and strategic plan.

Job Description

In order to fully support our North American supporters, we are seeking an experienced bilingual Phone Specialist (English, French) who has the desire to increase our customer service experience through inbound and outbound telephone calls, email, face to face correspondence, and by performing donation processing; someone with a passion to see God’s Word distributed in Canada and worldwide.

Job Requirements

As the Phone Specialist, you will be reporting directly to the Manager of Supporter Services and working with a team of Telephone Specialists and Gift Processing Administrators.  Your primary responsibility is to provide premier customer service to all those who contact TGIC through inbound and outbound phone calls, emails and other correspondence.  As well you will provide back up support to the Gift Processing team through data entry and order fulfillment.  The Phone Specialist is the initial contact for donors, Members and those contacting our ministry.  You will play a critical role in impacting the satisfaction and retention of those contacting TGIC.

 

 

 

Specific Reponsibilities

  1. Excellent customer service and communication, interacting with donors, Members and the general public via inbound telephone calls, email, online and in person.  This is vital to being a positive face and voice of the ministry and portraying its values and mission to the public and to our guests
  2. Updating information in our database and reconciling donor data and donation information
  3. Outbound telemarketing such as donation requests, lapsed donors/members, missed donations and follow up on accounts
  4. Support the Gift Processing team through data entry relating to donation processing, ensuring accuracy of entry and balancing of batches
  5. Back up for the main Receptionist.  Duties including being the welcoming face of the ministry for all visitors, directing them to the appropriate departments, answering calls and emails, and following up on requests and questions
  6. Administrative functions including office admin, filing, processing mailings & returned mail, and receiving goods & supplies into the office
  7. As the primary French contact within the organization, this role will also participate in basic French translations and proofreading
  8. Performing other duties or projects as required and directed by your immediate supervisor

Qualifications

  1. Excellent verbal and written skills in both English & French

Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Supporter Engagement, the Events Facilitator is responsible for coordinating our robust schedule of ministry events across Canada. The Events Facilitator will work closely with program managers to ensure excellent planning, preparation, and execution of our ministry events. In general, TGIC events are aimed at reaching our targets in the areas of fundraising, training and brand awareness.

Job Requirements

The Events Facilitator is responsible for liaising with event organizers to ensure all ministry events are planned for and prepared to succeed. In most cases, the Events Facilitator will not be responsible for the creation of  events, but will come alongside organizers to ensure that they have the resources needed to ensure the event accomplishes its objectives. 

The Events Facilitator will work on approximately 200 small and large events annually in collaboration with other staff and Gideon members. The Events Facilitator will not only ensure excellent planning and preparation but also execute the post-review analysis and follow-up with event organizers to gather feedback that will help us to serve organizers better.

The Events Facilitator will coordinate events in four main areas of our ministry:

Fundraising

Our members run approximately 130 fundraising events annually, and key to running excellent events and reaching our aggressive goals is ensuring that these events receive materials in a timely manner. The Events Facilitator works with organizers to ensure that registration, promotion, execution, and follow-up are carried out efficiently and in a timely matter. The Events Facilitator will personally connect with each organizer and help to identify areas where events can be carried out more effectively. The Events Facilitator will coordinate with the Marketing & Communications team on the design and development of all creatives including invitations, appeals, thank you letters, and ordering & shipping of materials to event locations. Fundraising events may also include Major Donor golf tournaments and luncheons. 

Training

A vital part of maintaining a vibrant and effective ministry is the training and equipping of our membership. As such, we run various regional training events across Canada. The aim of these events is to help our members understand how to use our resources more effectively in their personal witnessing, to understand our mission better, and to grow in their personal walk with Jesus. The Events Facilitator will support these events as required by acting as a resource for organizers, ensuring their receive materials and resources in a timely manner so that they are prepared to execute an excellent training event. 

 

Brand Awareness 

Our ministry has changed a lot in the last few years and we run events aimed at not only raising funds and training but also at introducing potential members, donors and supporters to what the ministry has become. Similar to the other events listed above, the Events Facilitator will work with organizers to coordinate these events in an excellent manner, ensuring that all events are reflective of the dynamic and Christ-centered heart we have.

Regional & National Events

Each year, we run 8-10 regional events (regions are roughly broken down by province) and one National event designed to provide our membership and partners with a vision of the future of the ministry, recollection of the past year's blessings from God, and to provide ministry training to them. These events are crucial for the development and encouragement of our membership across Canada and the coordination of these events will be a key responsibility of the Events Facilitator. 

Desired Experience

The ideal candidate would possess the following experience: 

  1. Experience in event planning and administration utilizing project management methodologies
  2. Experience in working with a team to execute initiatives 
  3. Experience in volunteer management
  4. Experience working closely with church leaders
  5. Has successfully coordinated multiple, simultaneous events
  6. Experience in utilizing event management and registration technology
  7. Experience working in an innovative, fast-paced workplace
  8. Some experience working in the Christian non-profit sector is a plus

Skills Required

The ideal candidate is:

  1. A strong communicator able to communicate detailed procedures to people of varied administrative abilities
  2. Passionate about details! Someone who gets excited thinking about processes and checklists
  3. Capable of creating/improving processes 
  4. Described as a multi-tasker
  5. Organized and able to manage multiple tasks, events, and relationships without dropping them
  6. A great team player, able to collaborate with their team and other departments
