I met a Chinese man who came from the 74th generation of Confucius. He’d lived a very hard life and suffered much persecution.

Thirty-five years ago while travelling beside a riverbank, he saw a young boy drowning in the river. Fearlessly, he jumped into the river despite the fast currents. He rescued the young child and returned him safely home to his parents. That day he sacrificed his life for the sake of another.

One year later he lost his own daughter to a blood disease, after doing everything he could to save her.  She died at nine years of age. For 34 years, they grieved for the loss of their daughter.

How could God take their child after saving someone else’s child? The pain, the anger, the hurt, the resentment—this family carried it all for 34 years .

Until Easter this past year.

The couple gave their life to Jesus and trusted Him to carry their burden. The man declared, “Today I believe in God. We have been searching for answers for a long time.

"But no one has ever told us about Jesus. We did not know we could be set free because of Him. I still have pain about my daughter, but I now have God. I can give it to God.”
