Yuriy, a SWW student from eastern Ukraine, is sharing God’s love with the homeless and others in need by distributing Scripture pieces, including the Light magazine. Yuriy is a former drug addict who spent many years in prison, but by God’s grace, he is now free from addiction and bringing the hope of the gospel to alcoholics and drug addicts living on the streets, as well as those receiving treatment in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and shelters. Yuriy regularly distributes copies of the Light magazine, which he considers a powerful evangelistic tool. “This magazine is a sermon in itself,” he shared. “The Scripture passages are so easy to understand, and the design is fantastic! When hurting people who have never seen any real light in their lives read this magazine and look at the pictures, they can see the hope of Christ shining through.”
Included in the photo of Yuriy is a gentleman named Vitaliy, who passed away just two weeks after this photo was taken. He lived on the streets for many years, but he finally found hope in Christ when Yuriy gave him a copy of the Light magazine and shared the gospel with him. Vitaliy was so moved that he asked Yuriy to pray with him, and Yuriy is so grateful that he had the opportunity to help this hurting man put his faith in God right before he died.
