The Gospel Flow Part Three
This is the essence of our involvement in China as an association: helping churches grow by providing Bibles and sharing the gospel message.
A River of Love
This is the essence of our involvement in China as an association: helping churches grow by providing Bibles and sharing the gospel message. This is how the church will mature in its understanding of the Scriptures and also share God’s Word with those around them.
Bibles are only available for sale in China through registered churches and most people would not consider stepping into a church unless they’d been invited by someone they knew. Offering the gift of a Bible to someone serves as an effective method of outreach in China and is what the church needs.
May, one of our translators, saw it slightly differently. From her point of view, the main reason our team was in China was to encourage the church and provide that extra spark to help motivate them. Based on what she’d witnessed during the time she’d spent with us, she said our encouragement was like a river of love flowing from North America to the Chinese people.
It’s a poetic way of looking at our ministry’s relationship with the church in China. Each time a North American team leaves, it receives a heartfelt invitation to return. The leadership in the areas where we’ve worked is strong, extremely sharp, and dedicated to biblical teaching and evangelism. They’re doing fine on their own—but they are so grateful for the encouragement we bring along with the Bibles.
The model being used in China is working and we’ve witnessed its success first hand. I now know the Bibles we handed out in -27°C degrees in Daqing will not end up forsaken on living room shelves, but will be passed along to friends, family and neighbours. And those people will one day be invited to a church service where they will hear the gospel message. That’s what it’s all about.
